While the title may be a bit misleading -my article does not deal with anything drastic like the moral opposites of good and evil- I found it to be appropriate in that it touches upon the theme of duality. Of course I had to change it from the original "Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde" to better relate it to my own personal story. This article asks the simple question of you… are you Dr. Day and/or Mr. Night?

~11:40 P.M. February 18th, 2011

The date is not important, a useless piece of information is the month, and you can simply discard the year. These snippets of information carry very little influence especially when compared to the time of day. Time dictates your life. Example: I really should be in bed by now, sleeping away the exhausting effects of my waking hours. (Instead I am sitting at my computer contemplating the best way in which to shape my thoughts for you the inquisitive readers of my words.) Passing of time reveals many truths that ultimately shape our fate and test our resolve. With time we satisfy our stomachs with food and resign ourselves to the inevitability of death. Time is a cycle; and with those words I come closer to the main point of this article. The cycle that is most evident even to those with memory loss is the alteration between day and night. Sun and Moon perform a simple whirling dance on the floor of Space. Their positions relative to my location -this is the most important sentence by the way- drastically mutate my personality and thinking patterns. During the day the light of reality illuminates everything. My personality is shy and subdued, I think mostly of concrete ideas, and even my capacity for writing is not as inspired. Then comes the onset of night. Suddenly opportunity abounds, my thinking is abstract, and I feel a palpable sensation like something deep down in my soul is revealing itself. I notice my writing ability is actually improved drastically during the night hours. So I have noticed these effects and I have come to a conclusion… my night self is highly superior to my day self. A method must be found for making the lesser one to be as the other. The passage of time plays an important role here too as I strive to streamline myself. Here I go into an adventure of growth.

P.S. I’d like to know if there are any others out their who feel a substantial difference in their own personality between the times of day and night. Perhaps the same as what happens to me or the opposite. I may like to write but I also like to read. Are you Dr. Day and/or Mr. Night? Oh, and thanks for taking the time to read this.
