My room-mate is an idiot, as if college wasnt hard enough.

One of my room-mates is 18, and I am 20. Sometimes he does ridiculous things like a highschooler would do.

Today, me and my other room-mate went to the dollar store to buy party cups for beerpong. While we were gone, the other room-mate (the stupid one) was on the roof. We do this sometimes, but usually at night, to watch the stars and stuff.

Well, when I came inside I went through the house,  to the back yard, where our pool is. We have an in-ground pool, and a screen enclosure. My dumb room-mates friend was on the roof. I looked up and asked “what are you guys doing?”, she responded, ” we’re going to cut a hole in the screen so we can jump into the pool off the roof.” “hell no!” I said. She giggled in response, looking to her left.

I looked toward where she was looking, to see a five foot by five foot hole in the screen. “what the F***!” I said. “Are you kidding me?”

For those of you in the northern fourty-nine states, a screen pool enclosure is very expensive (I know this because I frantically looked up repair costs to throw in my room-mates face, but stumbled across the cost of a whole setup).

I chewed out my room-mate, making sure that he realized that our landlord was coming to “visit” in about a week and a half. “We have screen in the garage, I’ll fix it this week”, he replied. I checked the garage, and we do not have any screen. So i looked into the prices for screen, its approximately three-hundred dollars just for the amount of screen we need.

Me and my other room-mate (the smart one), needed to get out of the house, so we decided to go down to the local pool supply store, and we asked if they knew a rough estimate of repairs. “You deffinatley need a professional” said the clerk.

So when we returned home i tried to get my point across to my room-mate, telling him that he was looking at a five-hundred dollar repair bill or more, and he blew me off! I guess he didn’t want to be embarrassed in front of his friends. So I told him that he couldn’t buy anymore alcohol until he paid for the repairs (I guess now is a good time to tell you that my “dumb” room-mate, happens to be family).

I went to work at seven pm, and when i got home from an exceptionally stressful day at work, I was greeted by a counter full of new alcohol bottles. It was all I could do not to pull him out of bed and kick the crap out of him.

Anyways, im done stressing about it, i’ll just let him take the fall, and pay the five-hundred plus repair bill.

I just thought it might make your Guy’s day’s a little better to read about my messy predicament. Thanks for allowing me to vent.

Room mates can sometimes be challenging but sometimes we need to look at his point of view (not always).

Your stupid roommate is lucky he’s a family member and that you evidently forgave him.

Did you not learn anything from growing up with your idiot room mate??

You may have a difference in levels of maturity. I certainly hope you can remain friendly enough for him to keep an open mind towards you and learn something or have someone he can talk to about things before he takes action.
