A four page long story I wrote for english.

I ran around my house, pausing only to pick up something I’d need to go on vacation. Things like shorts weren’t packed, even though it was mid July, I packed sweat pants instead. I was going hiking in the Rocky Mountains. Excited as I was, it was a little disappointing, going somewhere cold during summer. I would leave in 3 days on a bus to Edmonton, where I would get on another bus and drive to the mountains. Finished packing, I flopped onto my bed exhausted and anticipating the trip.

A loud noise went off in my ear. I reached over, still half asleep, to shut off my alarm clock. I hurriedly ran downstairs to get breakfast. My dad was standing at the stove, burning the meal as usual. He started talking about how fun it would be. I didn’t listen though, I was too busy trying to find something other then his charcoal mess to eat.

The doorbell rang, it was my uncle who was coming along, I let him in and then ran upstairs to grab my bags. I stuffed the last few things in and dragged them downstairs. My uncle and dad were chatting about the latest news in hockey as usual.

My uncle looked up from his paper as I came in. He offered to carry my bags to his van. We would take it to the bus station. But I refused, happy to have something to do while waiting for the trip to get started. I dragged them outside, pausing to collect a shirt when it fell out of the open front pouch. Once I finished stuffing the shirt back in and zippering the pouch up, I continued dragging the bags to my uncles van.

Soon my uncle and dad came out, seeing me struggle with the bags they laughed and helped me get them in the van. I and my dad said “bye” to mom, and then we left. On our way to the bus station we got stuck in a traffic jam. All I could hear was cars honking like crazy. Just 3 cars ahead there was an accident, a blue pickup truck had hit a red pickup truck in the back. The blue truck was left without an engine and the red ones back wheels couldn’t move.

When we finally got out we only had 10 minutes left until the bus left. We made it on just as the bus was leaving. I was so relieved. When we got to Edmonton, I got off first because I was so excited. I ran towards a store that sold pop and chips. Having bought some I ran back towards my dad and uncle. We got back on another bus; this one was taking people to the mountains. When the mountains came into view I got excited. My dad kept on asking what I ate that was so sugary.
