A short story about the feelings of freedom.
The feeling Leif felt that night was warming and happy. This beautiful, emotionally content feeling lasted his entire lifetime.
Leif, over the years, continued to live in the Adirondack Mountains. By the time he was 33, the hut had been transformed into a 10 foot by 10 foot luxurious home, complete with shelves, a bed made of deer hide and tree branches, a fire place, and desk carved from a dead tree and a door and windows. Leif’s life was also transformed. He often looks back and remembers his early life. By the time he had lived in the woods for a week, Leif felt as though his missing puzzle piece found a place in the world. He felt that way ever since. To this day, Leif’s legacy lives on. No one is sure if he is still alive. Never having been seen, this year Leif would have celebrated his eighty-third birthday. He always believed there was a Leif Stuart in everyone, something inside each and every person that told them to live how they want to live. Something that would place their missing puzzle piece somewhere in the puzzled world.
