How’s that sock tan looking?
So we’ve made it through eight days of band camp. You know what that means? Only one more day. Wear sunscreen; you don’t want those already lobster-like burns turning into scorching blisters.
Today we got through the entire drill of the second song. Yay! Now we just have to remember it.
We seem to be having a problem of forgetting all our moves after we’ve slept. Try to have some recall; you’ve got two more parts to learn, and you’ll have to know all of it once we start performing.
We really have to guide in this song. Giant straight lines are hard to keep straight, and they need to hit as we back into them. If you are on the fifty, make sure you know where you’re going, and everyone needs to follow you.
If you don’t make your spot, don’t scrunch up to the person in front of you… They didn’t make it either, so keep the intervals even. It’s less dangerous that way; you don’t want to end up eating flute.
Please bring your drill charts and poker chips with you tomorrow! We had to give three people push ups today and I know some of ya’ll were lying about having everything. We need to be learning this drill, so until you’ve got your exact spot memorized, you’re going to have to check it every once in a while. I don’t want anyone getting lost and having to ask where their spot is.
Tomorrow, we get to perform for the parentals. Awesomesauce. So, make sure you retain everything when we go over it in the morning! At least glance at your drill chart before we go out there. A quick review never hurts. Don’t forget to horn slide and keep your instruments up, too. Right now we’ve been learning drill without them, but it’s about to get ten times harder, so start getting stuff right.
Know where you are supposed to guide to, and do it. Nine times out of ten, guide right, unless you are on the right side of the fifty in one of those giant lines I mentioned.
No lunch tomorrow! We’re cooking out!
TOMORROW IS MY LAST DAY OF BAND CAMP EVER!!
