Day three just wasn’t important enough. Sorry.

So now that we’ve moved on from pole marching, we’ve started working on horn-sliding. This is uber important. We horn slide constantly; it’s very rare that we are actually walking straight forward. Now I know this will get easier, (or in some cases harder), once we try it with instruments, but make sure you can get it with the triangle first, (the triangle, for anyone who doesn’t know, is when you put your hands together and hold them up high in front of your face like a trumpet). This will help you get used to keeping your shoulders turned.

FLUTES! Horn-sliding for us can be especially difficult. Your flute has to stay parallel with the sideline at all times. If we’re marching right, this is easy because our feet can easily go in the direction of our instrument, but once we start going left, it gets much harder. You basically have to turn to where your flute is at a 180 degree difference from your feet. It hurts. Pull your posture up, Keep your upper body still, and twist your hips and your stomach. It takes some getting used to, but you’ll get it. Most of the time, we won’t be going straight left anyway, but you need to be able to do it.

Tomorrow, we have a full day! This means three times as much time outside, so dress lightly and wear sunscreen. Whoever doesn’t wear a hat may be forced to wear my fedora, but don’t count on it. Bring a hat. Don’t forget to pack a lunch; soft drinks will be for sale for fifty cents, so I would suggest bringing water to drink outside or whenever you need a drink, and buy a coke for lunch. We’ll be having sectionals tomorrow! Yay! Mr. K will likely be in there for ours, so be prepared to spend lots of time getting in tune and playing parts individually. Don’t be scared, just “go for it, flutes.”

If it’s a heat index of 112, (again), we’ll be inside in the afternoon. Otherwise, we get to go out in the afternoon. For those of you dimwits who were unaware, that’s the hottest time of the day, so try not to die.

Now get some sleep, smile, relax, and come back excited tomorrow! Yay for band camp! :D
