Watch out for Asian drivers.
I really hope we get drill books before we learn the whole show…
(I hate arm circles)
So today we reviewed part one and learned a lot of part two. We would have learned the whole thing, but you know how that little magic number of death likes to ruin Chippy’s plans… Anyway, read over your charts once or twice tonight or in the morning before we go out so you won’t be lost if you forget everything.
(arm circles I abhor…)
Everyone needs to eat breakfast in the morning; I know I’ve said this before, but it really is important. We still had people falling out and feeling sick this morning and afternoon, so no more of that.
(and since we all can feel them)
Clarinets and flutes: We have to work together!! The flutes tend to do a good job of staying together when we’re wrong, but we have to connect with the clarinets. We can look great and be a yardline off, but the gap is pretty noticeable. If you are on the end of the clarinets, know where you’re going. Sometimes we aren’t connected, and other times we are, so make sure you know who to stand by and guide to.
(let’s not do any more)
WATCH THE CONDUCTOR! Too many times, whoever is directing has stopped and people keep playing for four or five measures. This scares me. We’ve had tempo issues in past marching shows; I don’t want a repeat. Get in the habit of watching the conductor in the bandroom where it’s easy, so you’ll actually try it once we’re on the field. One measure is forgivable, but you should never be staring at your music without glancing up for four measures at a time. If you can’t multitask, memorize. Now.
Some of you left your poker ships at home. No excuse. You were supposed to leave them ON YOUR CHAIR. Sure, Chippy didn’t remind us yesterday, but he shouldn’t have to. Just do it.
The ice cream was wonderful.
Say thanks to all the lovely band moms and dads.
Try not to goof off too much during sectionals… At the very least, do it silently, like me.
