A short story about an un-healthy King of the jungle.
Once upon a time deep, deep, in the jungle lived a Lion King, called, “Swanky.”
Now Swanky was like no other King. Yes he had a big mane, with lots of hair and he roared and did all kingly stuff, but he never exercised or drank water or did any healthy stuff.
Early in the morning when the pride would go down to the water hole for a fresh drink of water, Swanky would suck a stalk of sugar cane instead.
“Yummy!” he would say while licking the last drop of cane juice off his kingly paws.
The queen of the jungle didn’t like this at all. After all she was the meat winner of the pride.
One day she had a chat with Swanky, and told him how important it was to drink water, exercise and eat a balance diet.
“I’m fit as a fiddle,” said Swanky, as he let out a great big kingly “ROAR!”
All the animals shivered and shaked and ran for cover, scared of swanky’s roar.
“I’m the King of this Jungle, all the animals fear my roar, I don’t need exercise or a healthy diet,” Swanky growled at the queen.
So Swanky went on in his usual way, sucking sugar canes for breakfast, eating half a roast gazelle for appetizers, two barbequed zebras for entrée and a candies wildebeest for dessert.
One day when the queen was out on a safari, some hunters came to the plain. They were surprised to see a large Lion, lying on a rock basking in the sun.
Said one to the other,” Let’s catch him and stuff him and place him in the Den.”
Said the other to the first,” No! Let’s tie a giant bow around his neck and march him around town.”
Swanky awoke to a bayonet in his nose, and that was quiet uncomfortable. He tried to roar but due to lack of exercise his lungs were still a sleep, and only the sound of a micro “MEOW” crept out of his mouth.
The sight of this made the hunters laughed uncontrollably. “Ha ha ha!”
He tried to bite the scrawny hands of one hunter, but his teeth fell out, due to all the sugar cane he had sucked.
This made the hunters laugh even more.
So they placed a big red bow around his neck and took him home for a show.
