A dinosaur hunter near Newgate discovers a T-Rex skeleton that has bullets in it.
About half an hour into the flight, the two ”new guys” had a couple dozen kills between them. That was when the plane entered dragon territory. Like flack, dragon blasts from the mountains where the creatures were caring for their young tried to bring down the plane which by then had been joined by five other bombers. The bombs were dropped and left the area in flames as dozens of nests out in the open were destroyed. Missiles and machine gun bullets took out dozens of nests that were in caves.
The plane came in contact with a few more flocks before it landed back at the base it took off from. By the time the bomber was in the hangar, the two doctors were in the mess hall bragging about the mission with the other members of the crews of other planes that were about to take on dragons. The men there were veterans of many missions. So they smiled politely and told the two new guys about their experience on bombing runs.
After a couple thick juicy steaks and a couple beers, the doctors left the mess hall and shifted back to the office of Dr. Trainves at the university. The scientist from Newgate handed the fellow scientist from Harvard a dinosaur egg. It looked like it had been freshly laid.
“Is this what I think it is?” the Harvard doctor asked.
“Yes it is. Your fellow paleontologists will be envious of you. They may not believe you and think it is a fake. But you’ll know it is real. That’s all that really matters. You can keep a secret about this place and what we’ve done, can’t you?”
“Who would believe me? Maybe I can come back from time to time to shoot dragons.”
“Sure. I’m looking forward to it. And expect something next week from me. I won’t tell you what it is. But you’ll know what to do with what you receive.”
“I’m looking forward to the surprise.”
Doctor Field was at his home in Cambridge when the UPS man delivered an insulated box one Saturday morning. He opened the box and found it loaded with dinosaur steaks and fillets which he placed in his freezer. That Sunday he invited some professors from Harvard over for a cookout and served some of the steaks and fillets he had received to see how they liked the meat. And they all agreed, it tasted like chicken.
