“God allows the proper people to be victorious in battle.”

“So was it proper for the Romans under Titus to conquer Israel and murder over a million Jews?  I thought they were God’s chosen people.”

“We know that someday in the future the Jews will once again possess the land God promised to Abraham their ancestral father.  God said the Jews would be scattered to the four corners of the earth.  There are even Jews here in Newgate.  They are Messianic ones.   The ones who will reclaim Israel will help it once again become a powerful nation that will never again be defeated by people who side with you.”

“What if I were to plunge this world into a global conflict?  I believe the stronger people are the ones on my side.   The people who side with God are often weak and want peace at any price.  My people will crush God’s people.”

“God won’t allow your people to corrupt this entire world.  He is still the most powerful being in the universe and all its dimensions.   You have tried for thousands of years to control the earth and eliminate people who trust in God.  That will never happen.  The only time it will seem you are victorious will be during the Great Tribulation.  But that will be a seven-year period.  After that, Jesus will be victorious for 1000 years and rule the earth from the throne of David in Jerusalem. 

“God knows the end from the beginning.  From what I’ve read, he will be victorious over you in the future.  I am confident of that fact.  The first battles of the Civil War in this country went against the Federal forces.  But they eventually won the war.  You may have early victories and more of them.  But the final victory will be won by God and you are unwilling to accept that fact.”

Satan was silent for a moment.  Finally he said, “You can not be convinced.  It looks like I am going to be needed by the enemies of orderd in this dimension.”  

“So I won the debate?”

“Maybe round one.  But my numbers are growing and God will always have a minority of people on his side.  Good day, sir.”

Satan disappeared from view and the pastor was able to conduct the service.  A week later, Satan was victorious in Sarajevo when the Austrian Archduke Ferdinand was assassinated by Gavrilo Princip.  The so-called war to end all wars began a week after he was defeated in Newgate by a relatively unknown Baptist minister in the Newgate Baptist Temple on June 21, 1914.  Satan never made an appearance in this dimension again, to my knowledge.  But his impact has been known around the world.
