One day at Ponderings Pond, three friends learned that it is great to work together. When food seemed scarce, they discovered there was plenty to eat when there was plenty of help.
“I am so very, very hungry,” said Delilah Duck as she looked down from a young pine tree. “I think I will fly down to see what I can find.

So she flew away from the pine tree to a nearby fence. Though she thought she would find many bugs over there, she only found a few. However, she kept looking and looking.
After quite a few minutes, she had only found a small number of insects.
“Wow! I have been waddling very much over here and have not found even a half-beak full of bugs,” she said. “I guess I’ll keep looking.”
And indeed she did, looking all along the fence and on both sides of the fence. It was a warm day at Ponderings Pond, and the sun was shining very bright over there where Delilah was. She was getting hot and tired.
Freddy Frog happened to hop over to the pine tree just after Delilah had left it. He, too, was hungry and had found a number of bugs there.
“Oh! I do wish I could find more to eat. I am very hungry,” Delilah said.
Freddy heard what Delilah had said. There were a lot of bugs underneath the young pine tree and, for a brief moment, Freddy was tempted to keep them for himself. However, he quickly pushed that thought out of his mind. He knew the right thing to do was to share.
“Hey Delilah! gung! Over here. There are lots of bugs over here underneath this pine tree,” said Freddy.
“Thank you Freddy!” said Delilah. She started waddling toward Freddy, but then decided to fly the short distance.
Soon, she was with Freddy underneath the young pine.

“Wow Freddy! You are right. There are plenty of bugs here,” she said. “And, to think of it, I was just over here, up in the tree.”
“Well, I am so glad you could join me for lunch,” said Freddy.
However, while they were talking so much, many of the insects rushed away. Freddy and Delilah did their best to catch what bugs they could, but there was less and less as time went on, and both of the them were still hungry.
Freddy began to wonder if he had done the right thing. Maybe he should have kept all of the bugs for himself.

Delilah was pecking away, but she soon looked up and saw Seymour eating leaves off of a bush.
“Hi Seymour,” called Delilah.
“Hi Delilah. Hi Freddy,” said Seymour. “Looks like it is a fine day to find plenty of food.”
“Gung! Well, we did have lots of bugs over here, but most of them seemed to have disappeared, and I am still hungry,” said Freddy.
“Me too,” said Delilah.
“Well come over here guys. There is a load of bugs on this bush. I really don’t want to eat them. If you come over here, I will knock them off of the leaves so they fall down to the ground. That way, you can eat some,” said Seymour.
Freddy and Delilah rushed over to where Seymour was. As Seymour went back to eating leaves, he knocked bugs off of the leaves. Freddy and Delilah had a feast.

After awhile, Freddy and Delilah looked up at Seymour and said, “Thank you Seymour!”
All three kept eating and eating until they were full.
All three were very grateful to have each other as a friend.
