This teaser is a scene between Aden (my vampire) and Phaidra (the princess of Gwragedd Annwn)
“Aden, when were you made a vampire?” Phaidra asked in a kind of dreamy, sleepy state. I took a deep breath and lightly ran my fingers through her silky brown hair. My body was still thrumming from the sex, so much so that my erection was still standing tall. I could taken her again right then and there in hopes of fixing that problem, but opted instead to explain my history.
“God, it was so long ago,” I said with a laugh. “I haven’t thought back to that day in…centuries. It was May 17, 1808. I had just turned thirty-two, and inherited my fathers estate. I said quietly.
“So that makes you two hundred years old? Wow! How did it happen?” She asked with a yawn.
“My mother was throwing an engagement party for me…”
“You’re married?” She asked with a small squeak in her voice.
“No. I was changed before I could say the vows, and my fiancee was murdered…It happened the night of the engagement party. The two of us went for a walk to escape the blistering crowd. My house was built on a cliff called the Red Bluff above the Gulf of Mexico. We were standing there, admiring the salty cool breeze, when he came out of no where. He attacked Abigail first, sinking his fangs into her neck. I tried to stop him, but he pushed me so hard that I flew back and over the cliff. I was somehow able to grab a hold of the edge, but barely able to pull myself up. I cried out for help, but the sound of the Gulf swallowed my attempts. I could not be heard by anyone but him. Just as he finished her off, my fingers slipped, and I fell to the rocks below. Surprisingly, I didn’t die. Instead, I was completely paralyzed. I was in so much pain that I couldn’t even think, and then there he was. Standing over me, watching me gasp for air. Every bone in my body was broken, I was sure of it. And I was quite certain that my lungs had been punctured.
“He knelt down next to me and asked me if I wanted to live. I managed to let out a raspy yes, and that was when he bit me. After he was done, he left me there. Still paralyzed and in pain. Moments later, I felt myself drifting off, but not like I was going to sleep. I stared up at the edge of the cliff and could see my mother, sisters, and brother along with all the guests, looking down at me. They were all crying and frantic. Then it was like I wasn’t even there anymore. I found myself in this other realm that was nothing but a waist land. Cold, Dark, and silent. It felt like I was there for moths, but I guess it would feel like that when you have no way of knowing how much time has passed. When I was awakened as a vampire, I was in a tomb. My mother had buried me in the family plot. I escaped and tried to find my maker. He needed to pay for killing my fiancee. She was gone and I was left with nothing but revenge. Unfortunately, I never found out what his name was, and I never found him. He could’ve been anywhere. I had to learn on my own how to control my blood lust, and I think I’ve gotten pretty good at it over the past two hundred years. I wasn’t always alone on my journey though. About a year and a half ago I met another vampire named Gavin Richardson. I found him hiding in a cemetery feeding off the care taker. He was a mess, and had been changed against his will, then abandoned like me. So I helped him. Taught him everything I knew to survive, and then one day he told me he had to go back to New York to protect his girlfriend. He had found out that some of his old friends were out for her blood. That was when I decided to change the way I was living my life. If you can call it a life. I’ve always thought of myself as a monster. I’ve killed innocent people to feed. I now feed on the real monsters out there. The murderers, rapists, and terrorists. They have no real reason to be here. Why would God want them here? To destroy what he created? So I take justice into my own hands now.”
