A child’s peer group causes the downfall of one previously quiet child. Consequently results in death.

Chasey ran towards the fiery light as if a herd of buffalos were charging her into the corner of the room. A moment ago she had been just a normal teenager living her life through teenage angst and self-unimportance. Stereotyped as an Emo, Chasey received varied amounts of criticisms and was expected to be suicidal from the moment she put on her thick black eye makeup to the moment she removed her pink starry conversers at night.

Chasey had been a shy quiet dignified girl until she fell in with the so called ‘wrong crowd’ at school. As time moved on she began experimenting with class A drugs, staying out late after being specifically told not to by her mentally ill mother and just caused continual havoc and worry to everyone involved with her. Things came to a head when she met a young man who promised her the world but instead left her bruised, hurt and soiled.

I felt that because of what happened to Chasey later in her life, someone should write her story from a non-judgmental point of view.

Having just turned sixteen and meeting a new group of people at College, Chasey turned her valued educational attention to partying and her newly formed social life. In order to fit in she felt that imitating the other more popular people of her peer group was the best way forward. So at her first ‘adult’ gathering when some white powder wrapped in foil was passed around the group, Chasey ignored any qualms she had and carefully copied the others in dabbing the cocaine on her gums. After feeling a sensation quite unlike any other Chasey had had before, her heart began pounding and the feeling of being alive began to flail. Chasey’s first ever comedown resulted in her being rushed to hospital and discovering she had a serious defect in her pulmonary vein. She disclosed this to only three people who made sure that Chasey came to no harm over the next few months.

The turning point occurred in Chasey’s life when she met a young man whilst in her local bar. After pretending she was eighteen and using a fake identification; he took her to an underground club known as a drugs haven. Unfortunately the friends she had warned about her life threatening illness were not on hand to prevent any such occurrences from happening. The young man took her through drugs to heights previously unknown to her. She went from an almost healthy sixteen year old, to a drug-using smack head. Her behaviour became distorted and she lost many friends due to her unfortunate habit.
