The story happened during the time when my dad studied Theology.

It was still during the time when my dad studied Theology. It was uncorfortable because even the house in which we were living was a very ugly one. No one dared to live in it not even the owner of the house.

However, during the one and a half year of our living there we had no problem. Many things happened, such as the cyclone that passed through our village and which was a disaster because it had killed many people and destroyed many houses.  And yet, our house was intact and none of us have been hurt.

We had grapes tree on our veranda and it had so much grown up that it filled the entire veranda. People were telling us that every year when the grapes produced grains, a man and a woman (ghosts) together wearing a wedding dress were standing there and everybody could see them. But we didn’t. They said that previously, a fire just came out of nowhere at the corridor where we cooked our food everyday with coal. Also apparently, no black person could enter this house otherwise this person would be killed because the parents of the owner of house, who are already dead, were very racist. And yet, the lady who was paid to wash and to iron our clothes was very black. Nevertheless, we had no problem, neither ourselves, nor herself.

If I summarize, our house was full of ghosts according to what people said. But we didn’t touch, we didn’t see and we didn’t feel that during the time we lived there. We never forgot to pray together every morning and evening. God sent His angels to watch over us and our surroundings. Our neighbors were amazed to see how we ‘ve been protected, always happy and alright. They asked us the question why. “It is God who defeats the devil”, we said. We thank Him for His protection and His care.

Psaume 98:2 “We glorify His name forever …”
