The acronym is a modern day Greek myth.
The Acronym
When Prometheus was ready to create mankind, realizing he had left no good for men, no protective covering or quality to make them a match for the beasts of earth, he asked for his brother, Epimetheus, to help Prometheus think out a way to make mankind superior. Prometheus gave men a nobler shape than the animals. He fashioned them upright like the gods themselves. He gave them protection better than any fur or feathers, better than any skills like strength or swiftness. Prometheus went to the heavens where the sun is and lit a torch of fire which he gave to mankind. Mankind, mortal and weak now had fire from which they learned many crafts.

What was becoming apparent to Zeus was the power that had motivated Prometheus to create mankind in such a fashion as to ensure they were superior to all things on earth, love. Zeus indeed knew the power of love as it had been born from darkness and from death, from the midst of chaos, magically, omnipotent, with the ability to banish blind confusion, to create light from darkness and to create power where no power existed. Prometheus’ love of mankind made Zeus jealous. It scared Zeus. “Why could I not have been created from love? What is so special about this mankind to have been created from love?” he pondered. Thus Zeus’ hatred towards mankind began to grow from jealousy, fear, ignorance and anger at Prometheus for caring so much for men. Zeus, the god of gods, began to realize his greatest fear of all, his fear of love.

Until now Zeus’ greatest fear was his fear of Hera’s jealousy. When cupid was young and trying to understand the powers bestowed upon him, he had accidently pierced Zeus with one of his arrows leaving Zeus’ heart hot with love for Inachus’ daughter, Io. Hera, in her jealousy, demanded Io as a gift putting her under the watchful eyes of Argus. This led Zeus to plot with Hermes to kill Argus. Hera in turn sent a gad-fly to eternally plague Io driving her to madness, not being able to stop for food, drink or sleep. Now, Zeus had begun to understand the power of love.
