                                                                             “The Count Down”

                                                                                 Chapter Four

As each day passed, the girls became more restless, anticipating the upcoming weekend’s event.  C.J. decided to look through her closet and junk drawer to see what goodies she could find that would be useful.  She thought to herself that surely she could find something in all the junk she kept stored away, always refusing to get rid of it.  C.J. plowed through the bottom of her closet in earnest as if she were looking for a needle in a hay stack.  When she ran across her old baseball bat she remembered promising Lena that she would take one, so she laid it aside.  Next, she found her old back-pack from the second grade. She figured they would need to carry their supplies in that. After sifting through everything in the closet she decided to look in her junk drawer. How messy it was, but that is why it was called a junk drawer she told herself. There was everything from rubber bands to plastic bottle caps in there. C.J. was just about ready to give up finding anything when she stumbled onto her magnifying glass that she used to play with when she pretended to be Sherlock Holmes. She was proud of her find because now she really thought she had a chance to be like Sherlock Holmes himself. While she was day dreaming, Lena made her way into the room and flopped down onto her bed.
