A funny happening on our way to gulf shores alabama and the law.

Last year my sister and i decided to return to one of our favorite spots,  Gulf Shores Alabama and we invited my two daughters along for the ride.  My sister and i have been to gulf shores several times and we absolutely love it.  We have taken this trip alone, with our wonderful sister in law, and other family and friends over the years and always had a nice safe trip getting there and back, but i knew our time was near that we would have a more adventuresome trip.

We four ladies had it planned to leave on a Sunday morning and arrive at our hotel about 10-11 hours later, but due to the fact all of our calenders cleared up the Saturday before, we decided to go ahead and leave early Sat afternoon and get to our hotel around 1 in the morning.  I have made this journey before this late with some co-workers so i wasn’t to worried.

We took off and drove for hours, nothing happening, just four girls on a trip to the beach.   Around 2 am we crossed into Alabama from Mississippi and suddenly we had lights flashing in our eyes,  we freaked…. Now by this time we were all tired, and as you know the tireder you get the sillier you get, and we knew we had all the necessary items,  license, insurance, seat belts, so we were not to worried but still we were on a Alabama back road, at 2 am… come on y’all, we’ve all seen this on TV… the good ole boys bust out our tail light, haul us in for driving drunk??  So as i slow down, i kinda got nervous, but still laughing and making up silly stories of how we were gonna bust out of jail.

As i rolled down my window, a large man, with a heavy southern accent, asked me to hand over the registration and my drivers licence,,, so i am reaching into my purse and the cops start shining lights into our car.   We tell him we are on our way to the ocean and i just knew we were going to have to pull up some tears or maybe show some cleavage, when low and behold the officers look at our middle age faces, (my sister and i) and in the back seat sits two lovely ladies in their twenties and yes a baby(my granddaughter) in a car seat.  He tells us to just go on!   We weren’t even worth a look at our license or anything! Come on officer-  do i look so boring that you cant even make me worry a little bit?

Well after a nervous laugh among ourselves, we all realized how boring we must be, we almost decided to turn around and go back and demand atleast a good car search or something.

Of course we did not,  but we did enjoy a wonderful trip to the beach and i want to thank the Alabama police for not busting our chops!
