A group of first time thieves try to steal what they need most.
They were all in position. In the leader’s head swirled countless doubts. What if the information provided by the broker was wrong? What if everything was a trap? Should they turn back while they had the chance? The time given was approaching and there was still no sign of anything on the rough road splitting the desert in half. It was the only road into and out of the town so if there was a shipment it would surely come from here. The men next to him were beginning to become nervous. In their eyes he could see the same fear that had captured his heart. If they were to turn back now they would stay alive for now but would also lose what would probably be their last and only chance.
Suddenly he noticed a small black speck on the horizon. It was the cargo truck. He quickly signaled to his men hidden behind the sand dunes with a sharp whistle. They were in two groups. His group would attack from the front and the other would come from the back to remove any chance of escape or ambush. That was how it had been practiced countless times before on this very road.
The truck steadily came closer and the leader’s heart began to pound faster. He gripped his gun tighter. It was time. He whistled one again and his group sprang into action. They rushed out from the dunes with a cry and began shooting. The truck sped up in an attempt to rush past it’s attackers but instead it left the road, crashing onto its side in the desert. He signaled to his men to approach the truck with caution; the driver could be armed. When he came closer though he noticed the driver was dead. The bullet hole in his head was enough to confirm that. The leader calmed himself, it was a necessary sacrifice. Some others checked the front of the truck to make sure there were no other survivors while he took a few men to inspect its cargo. One of them broke open a crate with the butt of his gun. From his cries of joy everyone could tell it was what they had wanted. Tears rolled down his cheeks as he thought of the village, of his family and of his lost child. It was water.
