A great and truly moving story to anyone out there facing problems with people who simply are not gracious about what they have. This is for those people who take things for granted.
Every day, Donnie and Makayla would play together. At first, when they were really young, it started out as play-dates. Then when they got to elementary school, it was picking each other first in dogde ball and sitting next to each other. They’d even cheat off of each others tests, depending on the subjects. Well, when they got to high school, they figured they would start going out. So, they did. For the longest time, they were inseperable. Than Donnie enlisted in the Marines. And Makayla was still doing work at her freshman year of college at the University of Florida. Right before Donnie enlisted, he proposed to Makayla. She looked at him, and said “Make it back safely, and i’ll marry you.” With a tear in her eye, and humble feelings knowing he was part of a much bigger cause, they left each other. Now everyday, Donnie would write her, and they would talk on the computer through web cam as much as possible. Than, during a live fire training excercise, Donnie saved the commanding officer from a recruit that had fallen and accidentally fired off burts off of his M-4 tactical machine gun. Donnie was promoted right then and there straigh from Corporal to Sargeant. For this, they sent him to train with the Marine Force Recon. In doing so, before he left, he wrote his fiancee a lettter. He said, “Baby, I might not make it out alive. They’re gearing up for some serious stuff. If I don’t make it out, marry my brother. He’ll be good to you, and he’s always liked you”. With that he left off. Well, during the mission on an oil rig somewhere south of the Bering Strait, a bomb was dropped on the rig. Everybody was pronounced KIA/MIA. Makayla recieved that letter, along with the purple heart and the Congressional Medal of Honor. So, she ended up marrying Donnie’s brother, Ryan. Together they flew away to the Bahamas and started a life together without leaving a trace of where they were going. Well, before the oil rig had blown up, Donnie had taken himself, 4 other men, and thrown them over into the sea. Out of those 5 men, all of them survived. Donnie was promoted to First Lieutenant Donald Boatwright of the Marine Force Recon. When he returned home a month later, he found everything empty except for a envelope splattered with tears, his Congressional Medal of Honor, his Purple Heart, his letter, and her engagement ring. Donnie did end up re-marrying, and every once in a while his brother called, but he never could change that he had never shown Makayla enough love. He took her for granted, and there was no way to get her back. So, in closing, never take anything for granted.
