A short story of blessings in disguise, man and nature, and Gods gifts when we least expect them.

Yesterday I was in my backyard watering the garden.  I was using a strong mist cycle on the hose. There is a wire fence between the neighbors house and mine with wildly vivid pink sweet pea twining on parts of it.
A small bird came flying down and landed on a part of the fence that had no plants growing over it.  It was a small bird with a burnt orange neck and I didn’t know what it was. Hmmm I thought…its very warm today so slowly and casually I inched the spray towards the bird….it didn’t move!  Wow! Could it be it came specifically to take a bath?  Do birds use soap, a towel?  He didnt have a bathing suit on and was uninhibited! I got bolder and sprayed a bigger stream of mist…that cute little bird ducked its head away from the spray but let me spray its fluttering wings!!!
I was so mesmerized and didn’t want to drown it so I kept moving the spray over the garden and then back to the bird, I could tell it was as delighted as I was.
All the other birds in the neighborhood apparently watched in awestruck silence… as they didn’t dare to join him and if they made a peep I did not notice, I was so engrossed in my little friend enjoying its bath. It stayed a good 15 minutes to bathe and then flew up into the tree that is near to chatter to the other birds.
I think God was speaking to me…..and I was so delighted at this little bird letting me spray it on a hot day!  I watch for it now every day hoping maybe today the little guy will bring its friends!
