This is an assignment for school, so I would greatly appreciate feedback from anybody who reads this! It is about a Knight who doesn’t feel like he has any friends, but after discovering a magical book and going through some "tests," he finds out that he really does have friends.

Chapter 1

“Hey Poppy, how’s the head…hahaha!” one of the Knights yelled out as the others burst out laughing.

“Fine, thank you.” Poppy simply stated back.

It had been like this since who knows when. He messed up once…did one thing wrong…anything, and all the other Knights would start making jokes about him. A little about Poppy…he wishes that he could not be a Knight anymore; he thinks he isn’t a good one, anyway. Nevertheless, he’s stuck in this job. The economy in Poppy’s hometown is bad, and becoming a Knight gives the best pay. Since he knows that this is all he can do, he tries to make the best of it. All he wants is to fit in with the other, even though he is the youngest one there.

After being tirelessly ridiculed for the day, Poppy finally starts his two mile walk to get home. He had done this same walk EVERY day for as long as he could remember. He could even walk home blindfolded and still give a detailed walking tour of the route. Today was different…there was one thing off, but he couldn’t put his finger on it. Then he finally noticed it.

“What is that?” he exclaimed to himself out loud.

Poppy went to go look at it.

“It’s a book?” he wondered. “Why would anyone leave a book here, let alone one with most of the pages torn out?”

He then proceeded to inspect the book. Poppy looked and looked, but could not find any form of identification on the book. Suddenly, the book started to glow; it glowed with a bright blue light. Poppy dropped the book. As soon as it hit the ground, the glowing stopped. He looked in awe the mysterious book.

“This must be a very important book. I’d better find its owner…and fast!” thought Poppy.

Chapter 2

So, Poppy travels off to his town’s center, to see if he can do a little “research” on the book. When he arrives, he is met by the paperboy who is yelling out, “A death…a torn page…a mystery! Read all about it!” Poppy hears this and quickly buys a newspaper to find out what it is about.
