The first chapter of a demigods struggle to get back to heaven.

It started before the begining, the infinite inside the infinitessimal. I didn’t exist at this point. Nothing did, only laws. And even then it is misleading to say there were laws; by this it is meant that if anything was to happen, there was only one way that it could. And it has happened and not happened more times than you could write the number zero on an endless piece of paper in a never-ending lifetime.

The most important law, is the law of balance. In its purest form balance can be found in nothingness. The second most important law states that if there is nothingness where there was once somethingness, then the state of nothingness cannot exist perpetually. These two laws account for the appearance and disappearanc e of the universe. There is no number to explain how often the universe is created and destroyed, but there is a concept: symmetrical infinity. That is, each lifecycle of the universe lasts for an infinity.

The laws turn into energy, and this energy is referred to as God. I don’t think of God as a person. He is more like a brain without the matter. He is a series of decisions.

The second most important law necessitated that the universe must become palpible. God seperated into infinitely diverse forms. Thusly, energy was converted into matter. This is when I was born. I had no name at this point.

God saw that all of the secrets of the palpible and inpalpible universe where divided equally amongst the demigods, but as individuals they were ignorant without language to share information. God’s first words shook heaven like an almighty earthquake can shake a blade of grass. I don’t know what his first words where, but I remember mine: ‘God, become an artist.’

It was inevitible that the language we acquired would create an imbalance. Through sharing our knowledge, creativity was born and God was not content. There was no good or evil as it is known now, only positive and negative energy. God divided into two—positive and negative—and created Hell. The negative God, renamed Satan, lead the negative demigods to this Hell. This is were, unfortunately, I was taken.

‘Why didn’t you take language from us?’ I asked Satan on the journey to hell.

‘Why? Because the third law states that in a state of somethingness diversity must thrive and be balanced. If you could not communicate, you could not diversify.’ Satan turned away before looking into my eyes. ‘ You may ask questions, but never question me.’
