A fictitious story I told my son last night with moral at the end.
Long ago there was a village high above the hill. It was very difficult to get anywhere. There was a very rich villager who decided to build a bridge to cross over the valley which separated their village from the forest. The forest is where the villagers collect their supplies – food, water etc.
After building the bridge he decided that he will be only one allowed to use it. Anybody who attempted to use the bridge would be killed.
So for many years the bridge stood. The villagers just watched and observed the bridge from afar – admiring its beauty.
Many more years passed before the owner decided to use the bridge himself. He walked across the bridge with his usual proud stride. When he reached the middle of the bridge there a very loud sound all around. Cracks started appearing around and before you could say, “Watch Out!”, the whole bridge collapse with it’s owner on it.
The owner died. The bridge had not been maintained since it was built and had weakened by the environment.

The morale: Don’t be selfish. Things built are meant to be used.
