A story about a mysterious call.
The Call
The telephone rang. The sound bounced against the wall increasing the sound. I broke out in a cold sweat. The noise of the phone echoed all around me. It was happening. Slowly I walked towards the phone. I reach and grabbed it putting it on my ear. A cold voice responded “It’s time.”
I dashed towards the window, not stopping to place the receiver back. A small parcel lay within my hand, inside a small USB. Quickly I jumped out of the window, a hail of bullets erupting behind me. I rolled three times then ran towards the dark Audi R8 laying in the car park. I floored the accelerator with the hum of several engines able to be heard behind me. I continued along the dark highway, sparks erupting from the screaming bullets behind me. To my horror a dark silhouette was above me, a man from the helicopter announcing over a megaphone, “Pull over and we won’t hurt you.”
Ignoring the man’s warning I continued, bullets spitting out of the MG on the helicopter. THUD! A bullet clipped my wheels, sparks flying out of the broken wheel. I saw a dark tunnel in the distance.
“Almost there!” I yelled to myself as encouragement. Then a stray bullet clipped my shoulder, a bolt of searing hot pain erupted. Dark red blood trickled down my shoulder. Then I was swallowed by darkness. I had made it! An opening appeared in the side wall. I drove in and a tall man was inside wearing a tuxedo. Then the man said to me, “Cutting it a little close, but still good job. Your mission is complete”
