Martin is an eleven year old boy currently in grade 5 at Kigogo Fresh Primary school. The school is located very near Martin’s home. Martin usually walks to school and back home. It takes him about ten minutes either way. The school gathers students from the surrounding area. Martin was recently nominated by his class teacher to be a class monitor, to assist the teacher to observe the class and make sure that his class mates do not misbehave in class. Martin was nominated by his teacher to hold the position due to his openness and ready to do attitude.

One day, the class teacher delayed to come to class for some few minutes. She had some work in staffroom. Back in class, the whole class began making a lot of noises and playing around. Martin warned the class of the noise and asked them to sit and do their home work and nobody listened. Martin reverted into writing names of all those who were talking, and took them to the class-teacher who was in staffroom. The names happened to be of the whole class except him. The class teacher asked Martin, “All these students were making noises in class?” and Martin said “Yes”. Then the teacher decided to punish the whole class except Martin. Because of that, the whole class was very angry with Martin and during their way home they decided to ambush Martin along his way home. When Martin reached them, they started beating him because he wrote them down to the teacher. Martin managed to escape after one Good Samaritan adult appeared and dispersed the children.

The next day, Martin had to find another way home, but he never reported those students again to their teacher, afraid they would beat him again.
