We sit in front of our Televisions, read Newspapers, and read on the Internet how Mr. Obama is going to change American Medicare. Since Canadians don’t vote in your elections, we can only hope that one day, one of your Presidents will wake up and change your Medicare System to be more reflective of the one in place in Canada.

Getting dreadfully sick in the United States is no joke. Many people have major Surgeries only to find themselves in deep debt, to the tune of more than $100,000 dollars for a Heart Surgery, as an example. Many others can’t afford what systems Americans have in place, and can’t get quality Doctors to operate on them because the don’t have the proper Health Care Insurance. How many times do we Canadians watch Television shows about HBO’s turning people down for such things as some Cancer Surgeries it’s un-believable.

True, in Canada we pay higher taxes than people do in the United States, but our Health Care System is free for everyone, right across Canada. Also true we Canadians sometimes wait long periods for surgeries, and in some cases we are sent to New York or any bordering State for Cancer treatments, but the travel time, hotel stays, and treatments, are paid for by our Medicare System.

Its completely astonishing that someone in the Government of the United States has yet to wake up and have a Medicare System in place that covers all American’s rich or poor.

Thousands of Americans have posted letters in several American News Papers talking about how bad they have it in the States in comparison to Canada but at the same time, they pay less in taxes. While that may be true don’t ever get sick, or you will wish that you’d paid those higher taxes.

More amazing is the money to house people who break the law in the United States. Since no two States have the same laws, some people can go to jail for time periods that could mean as much as half their lives, and the American tax payer pays for these people to be put away for such long times. If a one person murders another they deserve to be put away for a long time if not for life, but for car theft or simple drug possession, one has to wonder what law makers are thinking of when they make sentences that mean these people will stay in Prison, maybe ten years or more depending on the State they live in. These long jail sentences for penny ante crimes, criminals in jails for long periods, live off the taxpayers of the United States.
