An eerie, dark story I started writing at 16 years old.
It was taking him way too long. He should have been back by now.
Jack had been gone for over 3 hours now, as the slowly ticking clock read, held firmly in place in the center of the bedroom wall; the very same wall that had takes such precedence to this story; My story. For it was the catalyst, the ignition, the beginning, if you will. Random scratches, writings, tacked pieces of paper, cuts, and etched carvings covered this seemingly innocent surface. Many fine details could be pinpointed upon close inspection. For instance, in the area nearest my desk, a cryptic scrawl had been carved in, so full of angst and desperation. “MiDNiGHT 13:54″. I didn’t know what this meant, nor did Jack. He didn’t carve it there. It just…appeared one day at some villainous whim; or maybe some kind of unknown force? We ran these questions through ours minds over and over in rigorous trials, yet never got an answer. It didn’t matter though, at least at this point and time, for we had more important things to worry about. Especially Jack. For as we all know, amongst the normal people, live the one’s we like to call “psycho’s”, “lunatics”, “freaks”, and other such continued onslaughts of words. But there are those very few of us, who see the true colors, beauty, and brilliance in the twisted perceptions of the mind, heart, and soul. To us, these types of people, are who we like to call “Genius’s”. People who see gateways to other worlds, see and hear things differently than us, and some special few, cross over into those paralell voids, never to return. but some, not often, but very rarely, come back. They return from the chasms of space and time. Such is our subject at hand, Jack Willard.
This is his story, told through the eyes of his internal demon, his “voice” per se, his second mind, “Edward”:
Chapter 1: The untold
He had finally arrived. The door creeked open in a cryptic horror-movie-like way. There stood Jack, the most original specimen of Man to ever grace the world with his presence.
