Involving abduction and cake – and an unreliable narrator.

Here’s your tea. Now, if you’re good and drink it quietly then I’ll take the cuffs off and then you can have cake. It’s chocolate cake. Do you like chocolate cake? Yes? That’s good. I wasn’t sure whether to make chocolate cake or Victoria sponge. I’m rather fond of Victoria, is must be the jam. You can’t go wrong with jam, now can you?

Would you like to see my collection of pretty things? I have butterflies in this box and flowers in this one, and in this one I have all the shiny things I found in the street. And the picture of the pretty lady I found in the rubbish bin across the road. You want to see? No? Suit yourself.

I think you can have cake now. You’re being very good. You’re much better behaved than Mr Danvers was. Here you are. Cake! Come on eat up. Don’t you want it? You must be hungry by now. Come on… eat the cake. Eat it. Eat the cake Estelle… Eat the damn cake!

There now. Isn’t everything better if you do what I say? We’re going to be such friends you and I. Now where’s my camera? You look just delectable sitting there in that little dress eating the cake. You’re so pretty Estelle. Smile now. Smile for the camera. Dammit smile Estelle! That’s better. There’s a good boy… girl… whatever you are. Now you can be in the collection. Would you like some more cake? Good, good!

Now what are you doing? Go back to your seat. Go and sit down or you shan’t have any more cake. Am I going to have to put the cuffs back on again? Sit down Estelle. You’re not listening to me Estelle. Estella… Estelle darling… Stop that. Stop that right now or…

Now see what you made me do. Get up off that floor. Get up Estelle. Are you listening to me? Get up. Now look you’re getting that horrible red stuff all over your hair. And your dress. And the floor. Look at you, you’re a mess. I shall have to clean you up. Come on, up we get. Gosh you’re heavy now, Estelle, it must be all that cake. You’ll have to watch your weight from now on. But don’t worry, I’ll look after you. You’re my friend now. You can stay here with me and my other friends. We’ll be so happy.

Mmm not the ideal host…a little spooky. Good read.

I like the whole one-sided two-way conversation. I loved the reference to Norman Bates. This is one house I’m going to steer clear of.

Thanks, I’m glad you like it. I just figured it was a while since I’d written one of my unreliable narrator mono-dialogues, so this fellow just popped into my head. The funny thing is, my original inspiration for this sort of format came from people like Joyce Grenfell and Alan Bennett. Heehee

Superb. I’m a little worried about you….but superb nonetheless :) This one I’ll be forwarding to my own sick friends, hope you can handle a few more hits…. :)

Hits are what we aim for. Hits and sickness.
If you like this, have a look in my authspot profile, there are plenty more disturbed characters who want to tell you they’re stories. :)

Theres a sticker I have on my helmet”Ido what the voices in my head tell me to do”. And yet this is still a good read, warning label optional.

I was actually feeling kind sad for the unstable guy or girl.I was like…” oh how lonely that poor soul must feel”. Towards the end that “poor soul” became more and more violent and dangerous. Very well done Emma. You pulled me right in, and I was imagining everything as if I was watching a movie.

A little unorthodox, but absolutely brilliant. It really drew me in.
