Maybe having powers isn’t as great as you think.

Jake simply went to work the next day, Nick was back, in a good condition. Jake remembered to not build up a lethal charge… and that he didn’t touch things that Nick would be using. Why Nick got zapped was unexplained as far as he could see; only Jake would know. At about mid-day, Nick asked Jake to grab a saucepan in a higher cupboard, as he was taller. Jake did so, but accidently dropped it into the steak he was cooking. The saucepan hit the frying pans’ handle, and it had a catapult effect with the steak. The steak was launched through the kitchen, and hit another chef on the back. When it hit him, they turned around to see who the culprit was. Of course, Jake and Nick went back to working like nothing had happened.

Jake went home stressed; he knew he had to do something about this. It would drive him mad sooner or later. But what could he do? He had already thought over all the options in his head. Go to someone for help, they call you mad. If they believe you, they would probably go tell the media or something or put you in a freak show. Keep the ability and it will drive him insane, he can’t live knowing that he might accidently hurt someone who was a friend/family.

Jake couldn’t live like this. He decided to go to his fifteenth floor balcony, and re-think his options. He went on the balcony, and started walking back and forth thinking. His hand ran through his hair. He was on the verge of having a nervous breakdown. Tears were about to stream down his face. Options ran out.

He could see an option. Yes… this option would work quite well, ending all possible problems in the process.  Remain a monster and be angry with himself or end all his worries? The answer was clear. He would end all his worries.

He walked back into his apartment, leaving the sliding door to the balcony open. He looked outside, a last look at the view, the last thing he would ever see. He ran onto his balcony, but he didn’t stop there. He continued running, and jumped over the handrail. He plummeted 15 stories to his bloody death below. The answer was suicide.

It was all over the news; a 43 year old single man living in New York commits suicide, for reasons unknown. His work mates thought he was rather happy, and were very shocked about his death.
