A short love story.
I had wanted to ask her out for quite some time now, and I finally had plucked up the courage to ask her.
I was over the moon when she acquiesced, I can’t believe the time I had spent getting myself ready, I was like a woman changing my mind over what to wear, first this tie and then that, at last I was ready, looking at my watch I saw it was time to pick her up, jumping in the Taxi we sped off to start a night (I hoped) I would never forget.
She looked like a dream; I was amazed I had missed out on not knowing her until now
She smiled to me as she sat beside me in the taxi, as we made our way to the restaurant, we talked awkwardly about ourselves.
The meal and her company, was amazing, so many times I had to pinched myself that this was happening to me, all too soon it was time to take her home.
“Home James”, I cried with a grin , and as we sped off into the night, my thoughts of that evenings encounter flooded back to me I remember looking into her bright blue eyes as we ate.
Her legs would brush against mine under the table, and each time they touched, we would smile with anticipation both thinking of the “coffee” at her place afterwards.
We talked about ourselves and soon began to realize how many of the same things we both enjoyed I told her how many times I have wanted to ask her out and she too confessed she had noticed me for a while and had hoped I would ask her
We finished our meal and I rang to order a Taxi to take her home, as we stood outside in the cold waiting for the taxi I put my coat around her shoulders
I took her in my arms, OH! She whispered I have had a wonderful time, could it possibly get any better? Oh baby I thought it’s only just started, that was fifty seven years ago, now we have three wonderful children and four grandchildren.
I still think back to the first date of ours all that time ago, and how nervous I was and how in love we were, and I might add. Still are.
This is a story and not me… Just thought I might add that.
