This is a true story. I was young and even though I read my Bible, went to church, and prayed I didn’t view God the way I view him today.

I was 18 then, when I got stranded in what seemed like the middle of nowhere.  I was all alone with only a payphone, and no money. I tried to call home collect, but I knew even if my mom answered the phone that she wouldn’t come get me.  The only convenience store in site was closed, and the roads were dead.

How did I get where I was.  To shorten a long story, I left home when I was 17.   By time I reached the age of 18 I was homeless, which is another story.  When I became homeless it seemed that God sent me an angel to help me along my way, but he wasn’t an angel.  He was just a guy who knew how to live on the streets, and he showed me how to live on the streets in Florida.

David was a sweet person, but he had his flaws.  After spending a few weeks sleeping on the beaches, and going to food pantry’s David had decided to go to his parent’s house, which was in North Carolina.  I had agreed to go with him, because I was tired of living homeless.  I wanted something better for my life. So David and I decided to hitchhike to his parents house.

David was on parole, which he delayed in telling me until after we started hitchhiking.  I don’t think it would of mattered then anyway, because I was young, and David was the only person in my life who was there to help me. While we were on the highway with our thumbs out, leaving Florida, a police officer pulled up.  The officer asked us for our identification.  David didn’t have an I.D., but he was truthful to the officer.  Of coarse, I was thinking why did you tell the police officer your real name, because David wasn’t supposed to leave Florida.  The officer arrested him, and drove away, and left me standing in the middle of nowhere.  There I was stranded, and very alone.  I felt lost, as I walked off the on-ramp, trying to figure out what I was going to do. Together, David, and I were heading to his parents house. Alone, I didn’t know where I was heading.  I found a closed convenience store with a payphone in front.
