Anna Helen had a horrible life. Anna lived with her dad in England and did not like it there because the kids picked on her. Then she had to start moving repeatedly because her dad enlisted in the Army. When Anna’s dad was stationed away from Anna, she had to live with her evil aunt and uncle. They made Anna clean and do every thing for them, like a maid or slave, except a lot younger than the average maid or slave.

One day in a long time, Anna’s aunt and uncle let her take a day of from work. Anna was watching television and her aunt and uncle got a disturbing phone call. It was the man writes the obituary for people who died in the Army. The man said, “You are the guardian of Anna Helen.” The aunt and uncle were very confused at this point. Then the man said, “I’m sorry but Anna’s dad died this morning because he was very ill.” When the evil aunt and uncle tell Anna, she begins to cry. The aunt and uncle just laugh and say no we do not need to pretend that were nice to you because you will be living with us now! At this point, Anna has had enough and when every one is asleep, Anna sneaks out the window and is going out into the streets.

Anna found a place to stay, in a box, and stays there until morning. After a week or so, Anna realizes that she cannot live out in the streets because it is too hard to keep warm and she cannot eat. By now Anna’s home and is back to work and still and hates her aunt and uncle. Then Anna’s aunt and uncle say that Anna has to start working at a factory. The next day Anna starts work at a knitting factory and is doing well until she meets her boss. That’s when this starts getting rough. Anna’s boss seams nice at first then when someone gets there arm stuck in the machine and the boss doesn’t do anything excepted say, “Shut his machine down and get him a bandage, and the rest of you get back to work.” Then Anna’s new boss comes over and says, “I am your new boss you can call me Dan. Now you will begin work and you get three reminders to do your work the first time you will have to work an extra hour, the second warning you will lose a day of from a holiday, the last time you will be fired.” Anna is scared at this point and is not looking forward to working here.
