World-class experts on nature and environmental protection officials require emergency European Union legislation to amend so that native species on the old continent not to be threatened by foreign ones – a situation that worsens catastrophically.

Animals, plants and micro-invasive organisms cause huge losses in Europe, no less than 12 billion every year. Scientists meeting in Copenhagen Conference Neobiota officials challenge the EU to amend laws on Biodiversity, no later than next year, otherwise – beyond financial losses – invasive species will cause a catastrophic environmental disaster in the coming years, they say.

Because invasive species are those species that were specific to Europe accidentally or deliberately introduced into ecosystems in the continent – usually – would not you seek. A 2008 study shows that across Europe there are over 10,000 “alien species”, of which 1300 have a strong negative impact on the environment, economy or human health. Also, a study published in the prestigious journal “Science” reveals that in the last 30 years, species stain Europe increased by 76%.

Asian tiger mosquito (Stegomyia albopicta) – Bearer of many viruses, such as Chikungunya and extremely dangerous to humans,

or water hyacinth (genus Eichhorn), originally from South America, which spreads aggressively, very quickly and very hard to remove.
