The Fire

“I didn’t start the fire”, said the fox.      

“You did!”, said the crow.

“Silence!”, shouted the lion.
“Whoever started the fire will
pay for it.”

And then started 7 minutes of investigation
and each witness had its unique story.

witness 1: Boar

“Oink! Crow started the fire!”
“Tell me how”, asked the lion.

Then, the boar told his story.

“It was dark at night when I woke up to eat. While I was on my way to munch my snack,
I saw a very bright light!”

“You must have seen the stars when you were sleep walking glutton!”, mocked the crow.

And all the animals went laughing…

Witness 2: Buck

“Maahchuly…twas the fox who started the fire…(chew) because I heared that he has been
angry with all of us so, he tried to burn the forest!”

“Is that true!”, roared the lion.

The fox was so scared that he could hardly speak.
“N-no Your Highness…”

Witness 3: snake

And then came snake hissing on his way.
“Fox is telling the truth Your Highness… I felt crow swoosh out of the tree when I slept at the same tree he was sleeping last night.”

Witness 4: wild horse
“Lier!, it was fox! I even followed him to the tree he started to burn first!”

Witness 5: elephant
“I don’t think so…I smelled the smoke which awakened me last night. Then, I saw crow clearly started the fire!”

Witness 6:Panther
“I just can’t believe why all of you are creating stupid stories and blaming crow and fox when I know the truth.”

“Okay now, Panther tell me the truth”, said lion.
Then Panther started her story.
“I was sleeping under the olive tree last night when I heared scrathes and moans beneath the cave.
I went near it to find out who was there. And I found you, Your Highness!” The King was so shocked that he couldn’t speak.
