A story about a poor laborer who finds out he is actually a prince.

There once was a laborer named Fred. Fred was very poor. Some days he would have to wander the streets in search of discarded scraps of food just to feed himself. He lived in a small shack that his friend Josh owned. Josh let him stay there for free because he knew Fred was very poor. Josh was also Freds employer. Josh employed him as a laborer for his farm but Josh could only pay Fred a small wage as Josh was barely making ends meet himself.

One day when Fred was searching for scraps of food a man in an expensive suit approached him and asked “What are you doing?” Fred replied “I am looking for food scraps so I can eat today.” The man in the Expensive suit felt sorry for Fred an offered him dinner at his home. Fred graciously accepted the mans offer. They then went off to the mans home.

When they approached the mans home Fred noticed it was very huge and elaborate. He also noticed a crest on the door. Fred asked what the crest was. The man told him it was his coat of arms and that he was a Duke. Fred was surprised! He had never met a someone with a noble or royal title. Fred then apologized that he did not properly address the Duke. The Duke forgave him and said it was not necessary.

When they sat at the Duke’s table for dinner a conversation started about the royal family. The Duke mentioned something about a lost prince who should be the next in line to the throne. This prince was the only son of the King who ruled the most powerful and influential kingdom in the world. The prince was kidnapped as a baby and nobody knew where he was or what had happened to him.

The Duke showed Fred a picture of the baby Prince. When Fred saw the picture he noticed it looked like him when he was a baby. He mentioned that to the Duke a pulled out a picture of himself when he was a baby and showed the Duke. The Duke was astonished at the similarities and said to Fred ” This baby Prince could be you!” He immediatly called the King to report what had happened and the King ordered a test to see if Fred was his son.

Fred was invited to the palace to meet the King and take the tests. When the king met Fred he asked ” Why did you not come in a suit like every one else?” Fred replied ” I am poor and can not afford one” The king then ordered his servants to get Fred a suit and clean him up.
