In 2095 a lot has changed with the way that we live our everyday lives. One man won’t put up with it any more.
In the past everyone had their own houses, their own cars, their own bikes and so on. But this is the year 2095 and we just dont have the real estate to allow everyone to lay claim to their own “property”. Even personal affects are different than they used to be. Let me explain.
People still have their own “things” but they are in a different form than they used to be. Now when you buy things they arent the same tangible items that they used to be. When you purchase something what you are really purchasing is information. It is loaded directly onto whatever miniature database you need to load it onto. For example, if you buy a new couch you would load it directly onto your house key (dont worry, I’ll get to this in a minute). If you bought a new car stereo you would load it onto your car key.
Since there is now a severe overpopulation of every major city in the country people have to be wiling to accept a form of communal living. Basically all of the neighborhoods are identical. Every house looks exactly the same and every car looks exactly the same. You dont own the house or the car but you do own the information that makes that car or house yours, the colors, the interior, the amenities etc.. When you come home at night you may not be coming home to the same house that you left but when you put your key card in the slot at the front door all of the information is instantly downloaded to a mainframe computer which in turn creates all of the items on it with nano-bots and carbon molecules. This includes everything from the clothes in your closet to the food in your refrigerator. All that you have to be concerned about is the color of the illuminated doorbell button. If the light is red, the house is occupied. If the light is green then the house available.
The car that you go to when you leave work is just a car that happens to be unoccupied in the lot. You insert your key and it automatically transforms itself into the vehicle that you overpaid for.
All of this being the case, going home at night is very similar to trying to find an available parking space. You drive through the subdivision until you find an opening and when you enter your card, WALLAH, you’re home and the inside is exactly the same place that you left in the morning.
