This is a true story. A story of a single young mother who had fallen sick. The sickness grew inside her, the emotional pain of trying to live up to family standards. The one love that was unbreakable with no judgement was the love of her son. All mothers will feel the powerful emotions that come with reading this poem.
Everyday I clean the same room. I smile at the same sad faces. I comfort the sick. Their gift of hope they have left behind. They all look the same.
All, except; for one.
This one whom I pass by daily, has the beauty and softness of what I believe an angel may look like. Although her youth and vitality have given way to sickness. The sparkle in her teale green eyes is always full of joy and laughter.
‘Today’ I could not walk by: but instead walk towards her bed.
She smiles. A beautiful knowing smile.
As I stand beside her, I ask?
“Why are you so full of love, why do you feel so much joy and laughter?”
With a slow bright smile her sparkling eyes reply.
” I do not know of religion. I believe in you, you mean the world to me” Every family is my home”
I do not attend a church.
I only know of one love that gives me faith and hope each day.”
“Everytime I would loose faith and loose my way, he would take me by the hand and continue to lead the way.
Every time I would fall, and those times were many, he would stop to hold my hand and lift me up again.
Everytime I lost hope and wanted to give up, he would say “
When we had no home to stay and all material comforts were taken away. He would put his arms around me and reply:
“
When I thought I had real love in my life only to have it slip away, he would look into my eyes and simply reply:
” I will always love you”
At that moment the softness of her words faltered and a mist of tears surfaced. I found myself following her gaze towards the open door.
There he stood. A young man with translucent blue eyes.
I was mesmerized.
And in a whisper, her beautiful voice began.
” You ask me why I have so much love inside. “
“Because God gave it to me for eternity, through the birth of my son”
