Big decision to make.

Jenny started off by saying “Ok guys. I’ll cut right to the chase. Unfortunately, Grandpa John passed away last night due to a heart attack.” Her dad had due to a heart attack; she had just received the news. She was calm until now, after that sentence ended tears begun to roll down her cheeks. Sobbing, she added “We’ve inherited a very big house on near the mountains, 50 kilometres away. I called you here to make a decision. Our options are to sell that house, keep the money and stay here or move to that house and stop paying rent for this house. Something that we could also do is rent out that other house, we’d get constant money from it and we’d still be the owners.”

Ben, aware of the current situation they were in, questioned “Shouldn’t we wait for dad until we make major decisions?” It was a valid question, he managed the bills and he did the work. Tears beginning to subdue, she answered “I’ll discuss it with him later; I just want to see what you guys think first.” “Fair enough” Ben said.

There was a short silence, then the brothers realised their mum was awaiting a response. “I wouldn’t mind moving. If we’re moving into a big house, that’d be great.” Zac said, enthusiastically. “I’m with Zac. I don’t really mind what happens, but if we could move into a bigger house and stop paying rent, that’d be awesome.” The brothers were clearly in favour for moving, Jenny also thought it was great, just an extra bill they had to pay weekly being eliminated.

”Ok. After we see what dad has to say, we’ll put the idea into action” She said, ending the conversation. She left the table, and begun cooking roast pork for dinner. Ben & Zac went on with their normal activities that they did after school, waiting for James to come home from work.

A few hours later, at 6pm sharp, James rolled up in the driveway in his moderately priced Holden. His job was being a lawyer. He knocked on the aluminium security door twice, and then Jenny let him in. He pecked her on the cheek, and proceeded inside, inside his bedroom and put all his work gear away. Ben was aware that he had arrived home, but stuck into his game, decided not to interfere with their conversation. Zac was unaware that they had arrived home, glued into playing Halo.
