Sipho casually stands and gets into his hidden jeep as Wonderboy’s assistant runs frantically to their own jeep, guns the engine and takes flight faster than a cheetah. A trail of dust is left in his wake as the jeep is out of sight in a matter of seconds.

            Sipho heads over to the two dead bodies of the over enthusiastic tourist and his guide. He stands over them proudly in the knowledge that he has at least preserved part of his precious land from being raped by imperialism. He had heard from Wonderboy that he had another safari set up; this was two days ago. Wonderboy had wanted Sipho as his helper again this time round too, as he had proven such a proficient worker. Sipho had asked Wonderboy if it was going to be a normal safari or a special safari. Wonderboy just winked and replied that the future is looking rhino-rosy. Sipho was inwardly furious, but said nothing. Men and their weapons, plundering the beauty of nature for a few dollars and an icebreaker at parties. He told Wonderboy the next day that his mum was sick and had to be taken to the doctors in the neighbouring village. He couldn’t go. Wonderboy shrugged. “Your loss” he told Sipho. ‘We’ll see’, thought Sipho.

            He had done some quick research and discovered that the prey of the hunt would be the same as the previous trip. Rhinos were apparently ‘in’ this season. He had gone out on a limb and guessed the place of the hunt would be the same too. He had guessed correctly.

Sipho bends down to examine the corpses he had created. “How do you like it?” he asked one of the bodies, laughing carelessly at his newly found wit. Taking the two rifles and finding huge amounts of money on Wonderboy and the tourist, Sipho beamed brightly. “It is going to be a good year!”
