Just another short fantasy this one may have some moral meaning somewhere in it.

The knight rides hard, armor shining in the bright sun. Clad from head to toe in steel he felt invincible, surely noone can stop him like this, he was a god of the battlefield, swinging his sword with skill he takes down one enemy after another, in name of king and country. Looking to his left and right he realizes he has been seperated from his army, with enemies on all sides he panics, but just for a second and pats his steed, “It will be a glorious death old friend.” The horse whinies as it stamps its mechanical front hooves on one of the barbarians. As the hoards close in the knight sees a flash on the other side of the battlefield and sees several of his fellow countrymen fly through the air while screaming. Turning his steed he crashes headlong into the nrutes and wades through to where the battle is being lost, and there in the middle of a clear area stands his king, tall and proud facing an opponent that was twice his size, a tree trunk carved into the shape of a wolfs head stretching out from a well worn handle in it’s massive fist. So the stories were true, there leader was half giant. All over the plains the fighting grows quiet, because no matter what happens there, this is the battle that matters. the regal king in ornate metal armor, gold trim with runes inscribed telling of his conquests and a white glowing sword. The barbarian king standing there in furs, with leather straps and heads hanging from his belt of those whom stood in his way in the past. The regal king says “Leave these lands, we have not harmed any of your people!” from the giant “I like these land, they are fertile and full of game!”. At this the king bows his head. “Then I have no choice, I challange you for the right to this land by the laws of your people you must accept!” “Brow furrowing the giant growls.” Fine old man then I choose the terms, no armor, no weapons.” Thinking he has gotten the upper hand the giant grins the king will never agree and his people will crush them, and if he is foolish enough to fight hand to hand I will just crush him. “Agreed” says the king as he begins unbuckling his armor. The giant snarls and turns to him troops who have all sat down by this point to enjoy the show. The knight jumps down, and moves to his king speaking low “Sir, you cannot hope to win against this brute.”. “How little faith you have still old friend? after all these years?” Dropping his breastplate on the ground the king moves into the center of the clearing to meet the towering giant looking up with no fear in his eyes the king says in a strong voice “this is the deal, if I win your people must return to their lands and cease this warring!” The giant bellow, “and when I win you must bow to me and my people will have this land for their own! You have no magic sword to save you now old man” With the warriors around the great kings looking on and cheering for their respective leaders the horn sounds and they charge each other with a fury like none before and they clash, the giant swings, the king dodges under and drives his elbow into the giants thiegh, making him howl as he rolled under and out the other side. Turning the king plants his heel into the forehead of the barbarian lord and knocks him clean out. Silence falls as everyone looks in awe at the fallen barbarian cheiftain, slowly the invaders begin to wander back to their own lands, even the giant whom knows he is beaten and must honor the deal or lose what little control he has left over his people gets up and moves on, soon it is the kings men alone, collecting their fallen amd burning the dead of the others. the knight goes up to his king and says “My lord, how did you know where to hit the giant to ring him down?” The king looks at the knight and say “Well you see, last week I was out in the stable and got kicked in the leg by a calf…” The knight stares at the king and says “What was you doing in stables my lord?” with that the king looks at him and says “feeding my horse, don’t you feed yours there?” the knight just sits stunned that his king actually not only goes to the stables, but helps feed the horse like a commoner. “But my lord why would you do that, we have stable boys to take care of that?” The king smiles, and says ” I would not ask my people to do something I myself wouldn’t do…”
