Long ago there lived a king who enjoyed jokes very much. He encouraged jesters, fools and witty people in his court. He used to listen to them and reward them handsomely.

             one day he proclaimed as a joke. “My beloved people, if anybody brings me an unusual fruit which I have not seen, I shall give them half of my kingdom. But if I have seen it, the person who has brought the fruit should eat it along with the peel.”

            The people believed  this proclamation. Eager to get half the Kingdom they came to the palace with various fruits. One man brought a banana. As the King had already tasted the fruit , he had to eat it along with peel.some others brought apples, grapes, oranges, sapotas etc. They had to eat them with the peels.

            Then one man brought a pineapple. Since the King had eaten that fruit too, the man started to eat the pineapple with difficulty. Soon the Sharps thorns poked his gums and his mouth started to bleed. The man suddenly began to laugh loudly. The King was surprised. “My dear man, you are in pain. Your mouth is bleeding and hurting you. Yet you are laughing. Tell me. What causes you to laugh?”

            The man replied still laughing. “I am indeed lucky to have brought a small pineapple. My friend is waiting outside with a huge jack fruit, Which I am sure. Your Majesty must have already tasted . Imagine his plight when he tries to eat the thick thorny skin of the jack fruit. That is what caused me to laugh in spite of my pain. I am sure you will also enjoy the joke.”

              The King suddenly realised how far his joke had gone.He immediately revoked the proclamation and vowed not to pursue any prank which would cause harm to somebody
