Be careful what you wish for because the truth cuts like a knife.

Tom was one happy man when he woke up this morning. Today his daughter Joan turned eighteen, and it was the last alimony payment he would have to pay his ex-wife Jill. So Tom called his daughter Joan to wish her a happy birthday, and ask her to come over to his house. When Joan arrived, Tom handed her a check and told her to take it to her mother Jill, and to tell her mother that for seventeen long years he had been paying her sorry butt alimony every month, and today was the last check she would ever be getting from him.

Tom then asked Joan to come back and tell him what the expression was on her mother’s face when she told her what Tom had said. So Joan went to do what her father had asked of her while Tom was walking the floors smiling and laughing while waiting for his daughter Joan to return. After being gone for thirty minutes, Joan returned and Tom eagerly met her at the door. What did she say, what did she say, and what kind of look was on her face. Mom told me to tell you that you wasn’t really my dad, and to come back home and tell her what expression you had on your face. Tom died of a heart attack right where he stood.

    serves him right, briliant twist!

  • AC Hamilton III on Feb 1, 2009

That was a funny, yet serious story. Very well done! What strikes me the strangest is that he could hand it to his daughter, and say that as if she wasn’t worth it. Nicely done.

agree with sir AC. if this wasn`t intended to be funny I would balk at the portrayal of a father not really caring for her daughter but see her only as a responsibility.. loved the twist anyway..

Makes me wonder if the mother meant that he wasn’t really her Dad because of the way he was acting or because he wasn’t her biological father. Either meaning would have been accurate…

I know I’ve read this story before, maybe I just didn’t comment but I thought I had commented on every story I read. It was kind of funny but a joke is never as good the second time you hear it. Sorry I didn’t comment before.

That’s why you always get a paternity test. That guy was a bad dad and a sucker. I had a good laugh though. Thanks.

    Smart woman..hehehe..liked this Hfj.

That would be a good reason to go into shock after that long of a period. The real father got off scott free while the one that thought was father paid a high price.A good piece with a moral lesson behind it,this is when a paternity test would have came in handy.
