A short story of an adrift lifeboat in the North sea, with a little none fact!
The boat adrift
The sun came up early that morning the waves gently rocked the tiny yellow rubber boat. Sam said,
“Hey Captain how many days is it now three or four?”
“Four, your turn to bale out the raft”
Sam used his forage cap to scoop out the salt water from the bottom of the raft,
“How is your bandage Cap?”
“Its ok Sam you just keep on bailing”
“It was Roger’s fault God damn it I told him a fighter was coming in on our six o’clock damn him!”
The waves began picking up as the wind belted them into action, the bandaged Royal Air Force pilot replied,
“Yes well, Roger paid for his mistake now didn’t he? He is at the bottom of the north sea along with my Halifax! You get a flare ready those Seagulls will be back any second! are you eating that chocolate?”
The front gunner put the chocolate back in his pocket and said,
“Wow nothing wrong with your sense of smell!”
“No its fine. It wasn’t all Roger’s fault its just war why did the searchlights cone us? Our luck ran out is all. I dived I corkscrewed but the bastard had us in his sights, how am I going to out manoeuvre a bloody FW190, P-Popsie was a shed you know that, the shit heap should have been scrapped! Could hardly get to 12,000ft that’s what did us too bloody slow and too bloody low!”
Sam leant forward and wiped some blood off the Captain’s cheeks he said,
“Thanks Sam I didn’t mean to shout I’m just in pain. I would give anything for a shot gun right now those bastard Seagulls I swear to God!”
“Just lay still Cap we must be near some kind of coast, we need to get you to hospital, you’re not looking so good”
“Oh thanks you’re a real boost!”
The Captain heard a rustle of paper and felt a cold piece of chocolate being pushed into his mouth,
“Thanks Sam you watch those blood suckers keep the flare in your hand”
“Its our last one Cap was saving it for a passing ship or rescue plane but ok I’ll watch the Gulls Cap”
