The Beach Trip – The Third Adventure

Lauren and Eva were coloring together when they heard a knock at the door. 

“I wonder who that is?”  said Eva.

Hardly had she gotten the question out when they heard a familiar voice and Rachel ran in.

“Guess what?  Guess what?”  She said breathlessly.

“What?”  Lauren and Eva answered together, their excitement building as high as Rachels’.

“Mommy and Daddy are going on a trip.  I get to stay with you.”  She was so excited she was jumping up and down.

The all three started jumping up and down and dancing around the room yelling, “Hooray!  Hooray!  A trip! A trip!”

About that time their mothers walked in the room.  They watch the girls dancing around.  “Hooray ?  Hooray?  A trip?  A trip?”  They said, laughing.

“Mommy, We just love when Rachel comes to visit!”  Lauren explained, laughing.

Rachel said, “Goodbye Mommy.  I love you.  She gave her mommy a big hug.

Mommy hugged her back.  “Goodbye darling.  See you tomorrow.  I love you.”

After their mommies had left, Lauren asked, “Where shall we go tonight?”

“Hmmm,” said Eva, “Let me think.”  She put on her most studious face.

“Well, Rachel said, timidly, “I really like going to the beach.”

“I really like going to the beach, too, “Eva said.

“Then tonight we’ll go to the beach!”  said Lauren excitedly.

That night, after the adults were asleep, Eva and Rachel snuck into Laurens’ room.  Lauren was sitting, crosslegged, on the bed waiting for them.  They quickly climbed on the bed and hugged her.

“Are we ready to go?”  laughed Lauren.

“Yes!  Yes!”  they wiggled together.

Lauren  pressed the button and said, “I want to go to the beach, please.”

The bed started to move.  It slid across the room and flew out the window.  The girls loved to fly up in the sky.  Stars were so beautiful, like a million twinkling lights!  For a few minutes the girls were silent, breathlessly watching the beauty all around them.
