The magic tunnel

The darkness first began to cover the land, when the beautiful princess had allowed an evil sorcerer access her magic tunnel once before.  The tunnel is glorious filled with wonder. Every good thing in the kingdom comes from the tunnel and wonderful pleasures and joy appear as if from nowhere. No one in the kingdom knows the secret of the tunnel including the princess. yet Many good and evil doers in kingdom seek to gain entrance.

The prince was betrothed to the princess and loved her more than his own life. But was called away to battle in a far away province. While the prince was away the sorcerer played an evil trick by drugging the princess. The mystical elixir caused the princess to forget her love, and lead the sorcerer to the entrance of the tunnel. She kept her wits just enough to lead the sorcerer far enough that he could not find the tunnel. But still just being in the presence of such power, had given him enough power over the prince to cast a spell that created a veil preventing the prince from seeing his love. When he returned from the war. His princess was nowhere to be found. The tunnel was still where he remembered but the princess had gone away. He eventually forgot the princess all together. even though right in front of him. she was standing calling out. she had no idea why the prince would ignore her cries.

All the while the king sat on his throne and watched with bemusement waiting for the prince to realize what happened and break the spell. years went by and occasionally he would catch a fleeting glimpse of the princess. when he went to the cave so he would visit often. But the princess became angry that he was visiting the tunnel and wouldn’t talk to her so she closed off the entrance and left the kingdom. when the prince could not find the entrance to the tunnel he began to realize something was wrong. He ran out into the streets looking for her again she could not be – found so he returned to where he remembered the tunnel to wait. while there he sat and waited patiently hoping one day she would return.

years passed and the prince gave up hope he returned to the castle and went back to his normal duties. One day the prince saw another knight walking and talking. and the prince said in his heart this knight speaks as though to the princess. and he moved closer to hear what the knight spoke of and there was the knight talking at the entrance of the tunnel to himself.

He spoke as though he was interested in the tunnel. the prince knew the princess was near to the tunnel. but the knight was a mirror image of her prince. and she could not tell the difference believing he was her prince. she showed him the entrance to the tunnel but stopped short of allowing him inside.

Due to his reverse image she became suspicious and turned back to the original  prince and told him of the mirror image. The prince was perplexed “how could this be me” the prince told her to continue to talk to the knight in order to observe and see if was indeed himself. He knew it was not but too was inamorate  with the knights strange speech. He did not trust the knight who had traveled from a far away land because of tales of the splendorous tunnel. and told the princess to but stopped short of telling the princess to stay away to prevent her from rebelling against his authority. the prince knew he could not be with the princess nor enter the tunnel   unless she granted him access. So he went to the knight and spoke with him daily to no avail. And with all of  his resources exhausted he requested audience with the king. Who joyfully stepped in and explained to the princess and prince and the knight what had befallen them breaking the cruel wizards spell. and restoring light to the kingdom.

The prince ran to his princess kissed her and vowed to never again leave her. And stayed in the magic tunnel from that day forward.
