A man is born with a great gift to foresee the future and read minds. Such power, could have great consequences.
Gabriel Clive was born with a gift. A power that was so great that many would fear him because of it. Yet, Gabriel was a man of peace and benevolence. Most assumed that he was slow and mentally ill when he was a child, for the boy did not utter a word until he was nearly five years old. As if by a miracle, the boy announced to his family one day that it will rain.
These words seem insignificant and bizarre to the uninitiated. There had been a dry spell that summer for quite sometime across that big Midwest and there was nary a drop of rain for months. It did rain, at least, after Gabriel spoke those words that fateful day.
It seemed coincidental, but the sheer amazement of this seemingly dumb child to master speech so rapidly, had many wondering if the boy was truly special.
Somehow, as if by some unknown force, Gabriel Clive had this extra sense. Some may refer to Mr. Clive as a “psychic” or a “mind reader”, but he was more than that. He was the man with the power.
Gabriel Clive could read the thoughts of anybody he knew and some he did not. He could predict the weather, the score of a baseball game and even the weekend box-office grosses.
He was labeled as a charlatan by many and a phony by others. Talk shows and interviews persisted for years and despite his never failing accuracy, so few would believe that he had such a power. Gabriel would even offer to read the minds of these unbelievers, but he was seldom given the satisfaction of doing so. He was too much the gentleman to spew forth such private information without proper consent, but a smile always formed across his lips when they would claim they’re disbelief.
He smiled because they’re minds read different.
Skepticism was common among many in Mr. Clive’s abilities until the war. Never was Gabriel in such a state of great agitation the day that he appeared on the News urging his leaders to be wary of impending conflict. His claims were considered frivolous and extreme and he was just being ambitious in his quest for fame.
The following day, the country was attacked by an enemy that few suspected. The government was quick to seize the young man, believing him to be a part of the plot, but he just knew all the answers and would tell them that he was merely reporting.
