This missionary shifts to a dimension where the people are too religious.

From time to time, America has experienced a religious revival.  In 1877, Kirv Prost wanted to experience a dimension where revival was taking place and be a part of it.  What he didn’t realize was that true revival is evidenced in the heart and not just emotionally.

Kirv shifted to a dimension that was similar to America in the early 19th century.  But the religious revival was of a belief that at times was at odds with Christianity.  It was a faith in which to show you were a part of the religion, you had to be emotional and willing to do whatever the elders told you to do.

Kirv brought the standard equipment along with two pistols and a rifle that were multi-modes.  He doubted he needed them.  But just in case of trouble they were available.  He also brought a female biosyn he named Rona.

They arrived in the city of Macree by coach and had no trouble finding a house and a vacant church because a large group of people had been told by their minister that God wanted them to sell their homes and move to a land that God would show them.  They left about three weeks ago and were never heard from again.  Kirv was able to purchase both properties from the bank for $400.

The city was abuzz with religious fervor and the people Kirv came in contact with were happy and excited.  When he told the bank president that he wanted to purchase the church and parsonage, the man almost cried.

“Mr. Prost, I thought that holy structure wasn’t going to shine with the glory of God for a long time.  I am grateful that you came in here today.  I know how poor most of you religious people are except for many of the leaders.”

“Oh?  I thought even preachers were poor.”

“Where do you come from?”

“From somewhere you probably never heard of.  Back there, preachers rely on their congregations and God to supply their needs.”

“Same here.  I guess the people out here love their pastors and their God more than they do where you come from.  When God tells the people to give generously to their pastor, they do it.  The bigger the house their pastors live in, the more evidence that God is with him and appreciates what he is doing.”
