This missionary is sent to a dimension that is at war.
Nations often get closer to God when they are at war. Trune Airnmont knew this when he decided to shift to a dimension where a world war was raging. He graduated from the seminary in 1912 and shifted to a dimension that was similar to earth thirty years in the future. He brought along all the standard equipment other missionaries brought with them including a male biosyn who would be his assistant. He named him Frone.
The pair drove into the city of New Hominus which was deeply involved in the war effort. The factories were turning out weapons systems and munitions. The shipyard was turning out a major warship every week. The three military bases in the area were sending an average of 10,000 men a week to war. And sad to say, an average of 500 men were coming home in military issue coffins every week.
Trune and Frone were able to rent a house on the Larnan Estates for $200 a month and started working on the Mernform Army Base south of town near the train station as counselors. With so many kids coming to the base to train that were probably scared of what might happen to them, Trune and Frone wanted to help them face the future, no matter how long or short their lives would be, with God in their lives.
Both were given aptitude tests to see if they were well-suited to be counselors and passed with flying colors. They met with the commanding officer of the base, General Henfred Kerhan, in his office. They sat in front of his desk in wooden straight-back chairs. Women came in constantly with papers for him to read and sign as he talked with the missionaries.
“Why did you choose to come to my base to be counselors? I don’t want you two to turn my men into mama’s boys that try to get in touch with their feelings instead of kill the enemy. We turn out killers; not cry babies.”
“They need to be prepared for the afterlife,” said Trune. “If they know that their souls are going to Heaven, they will be less afraid to die.”
“I’ve read the Bible. Good book. I’ve read that Jesus told people to be friends with their enemies. I can’t have that. After making the enemy into monsters that need to be destroyed, I can’t have you two jokers telling my men to treat them kindly.”
