In the dimension this missionary shifted to there was slavery.
Ulnor Gangst lived when slavery was a plague in the United States. He knew he couldn’t take it on by himself in this dimension and armed rebellion had been crushed except in Haiti where slaves overthrew the French. But since the leaders made a pack with Satan, the nation suffered. But in 1858, thanks to Sad Lang and others who smuggled slaves out of the South, it looked like slavery was on its way out as an institution.
Ulnor graduated from the seminary in the spring of 1858 and shifted to a dimension where an entire planet was the source of slaves for an empire. Slave vessels would ship at times 1000 slaves to worlds controlled by the Pliseesium Empire. The capitol of the empire, Plisees, on the planet of Plisees Prime was the head of the empire that encompassed a few dozen star systems.
The fleet of starships and heavy cruisers kept order in only 1% of the galaxy. But it was a vast area that was home to over 500 billion people with 200 billion of them slaves. The planet of Brankenforn had a population of over 10 billion and was more like a breeding ground for slaves as it had been for millenniums. Before the Empire, the planet was over 70% slave and controlled by the 30%. The people didn’t know any different and accepted the empire since the technology was more advanced and being a slave wasn’t as much of a burden. They were cheaper than synthetics and expendable.
Ulnor shifted to the planet with a biosyn as his wife he named Oolna and two male and one female synthetics that would be their servants. They also had the standard equipment missionaries took with them to the field. He wanted to spread the Gospel to the slaves and try to reach the ruling class with the same good news he would deliver to the ones they ruled over.
The city of Fassel Have had a population of 5 million with 90% of them being slaves since it was a slave market and processing center for those destined to serve on one of over 300 planets. The Empire made sure no rebellion was possible. So the military presence was obvious. Yet citizens could be armed as long as they were free. Ulnor registered with the Imperial Registry in the Imperial Administration Complex. He brought his wife and synthetics with him into the registration office so they could be registered and scanned for their identification cards and implants which would be permanently with them. It was a violation if one lost their card and the fine would be 10 plons which is roughly the value of 5 ounces of gold. But if one removed their implant, it was a major violation that could subject a slave to execution and a free person to slavery since it would be considered an act of rebellion.
