The truth that binds and the one that sets everyone free, which would you choose?

Master:  The truth lies at the peak of that mountain. If you desire to know the truth and change your life, I could guide you how to get there.

Disciple:  Master Hu, I have high regard for your learning and I’m your devoted follower. Could you save me from the treacherous climb to that mountain and just teach me the truth that you discovered when you got there?

Master:  Laziness is no excuse for enlightenment, Yu. The truth of the mountain lies at the peak of it. It would be much easier for a man to climb that mountain if he is sincere to be enlightened but impossible for anyone to cut the summit of that mountain and lay it in front of someone else, the way you want me to do.

LOL! Diamondpoet must really have like it. Good one, Will. Some mountain peaks are really high and difficult to climb, though.

Sometimes it is not out of laziness, but out of fear. But I do agree with your thoughts :)

That’s life in a nutshell Will :-) I think parents and teachers need to instill a sense of self-worth and capability in children. If we have high expectations of our children, they will rise to meet those expectations – a refreshing and enjoyable read :-)

A very good message you shared. I totally agree, just like the slogan, No pain, no glory.. One has do endure life’s trial to achieve his goal.

  • Patrick Regoniel on Mar 4, 2010

Yes, I encountered such people. They would rather do it the easy way than strive to learn.
